lancaster county pa newborn photographer | my nephew

It is amazing how quickly time passes when you aren’t the one expecting. Here’s the perfect example. I feel like my sister’s pregnancy flew by. Perhaps if she lived closer and I could see her more often I would have thought differently. It feels only like a few weeks ago that I created her maternity portraits. Yet here I am sharing my nephew’s first portraits with you. It’s even crazier to think that he’s already six weeks old! I have to share with you how my sister fooled me, lied actually, about being pregnant. My family went to visit her and my brother-in-law last spring and I noticed that my sister looked rough. I know that sounds really bad, but my sister has always been the princess. If there is one of the girls in the house that always liked to primp up, it was this sister. She is the fashionista so for me to see her looking kind of not all put together was odd. She told me she was getting over a cold so I just brushed it off. Then our conversation turned into baby talk and I nosily (like any big sister would) asked her, “you aren’t pregnant, are you?” She assured me she wasn’t. Lie! On our drive home I told my husband that I would not be surprised if my sister announced on Mother’s Day that she was expecting. So on Mother’s Day we all gathered at my parents to love on our mom. My mom opened her present from my sister and it was a framed ultrasound photo, but when she pulled it out of the bag the frame was facing away from my mom and I had the perfect view to see what it was. You can imagine the uproar and giddy yelling that ensued. My mom was still clueless and had no idea why I was jumping up and down and my baby sister was hugging my PREGNANT sister. I said it was a girl and was very much wrong. Haha!

Meet my nephew, Josiah…don’t let his peaceful, sleepy face fool you. I had to work and sweat to create these. He is clearly related to my children. I still love him!

I like to get to know expecting mother’s wanting newborn photos created of their babies. It is always best to plan most of the details prior to baby’s arrival with the only thing left to do is wait for baby to be born to set the date and time of the photo session. If you are expecting, I’d love to chat with you about how we can create newborn art of your precious little one. Call or email me: 610-334-6027 |

berks county pa senior photographer | backyard

This past fall was so good to me! I’m having fun going back through sessions and pulling out favorites to highlight on the blog. This handsome young man’s senior portraits were created right in his backyard. One of my favorite things is to show clients how an “eh” spot can be transformed into a beautiful backdrop for portraits by simply knowing how to use the available light. This was one of those sessions. I know he and his mother were a little apprehensive but I’m so glad they both trusted me because I knew their backyard had gorgeous potential.

I have to tell you about this guy. He is super bright and has a well thought out plan for his college years. He is courteous and one of the sweetest young men you could ever meet. He is the type of young man that any parent would want as a role model or friend for their own child. I know as a parent that I always push my own son toward excellence. This standard can often blind parents from seeing all the great qualities you have modeled, taught, and passed onto your child because you are so focused on getting them to the final destination of maturity (at least enough of it to release them out into the world). I’m not saying I’ve passed so many great qualities to my son–hey, he’s only six so give me at least another decade. This is just a reminder to his parents. Be very proud of all of your hard work and enjoy the fruit of your labor because anyone who is in your son’s space certainly will.

Beautiful work Beira! Also agree totally with your comments about this young man. 🙂

berks county pa children’s photographer | lots of laughs

Oh the fun of photographing laughing little boys. They always have something silly to laugh and giggle about. Perhaps it could be that their mother has trained them well on “on-camera” behavior since she’s a photographer as well. Last year I lamented over not having been able to capture my own children in autumn, mostly because mine are trained to do everything possible to avoid their own mother’s camera. Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but I made it a point this year to have someone else photograph my own children with all the pretty fall colors and no stress on myself trying to get “the” shot. Kat from Pastiche Photography was gracious enough to photograph my own family and let me photograph hers in return. I had a blast working with her and her boys. I loved the pretty evening light we had for their session and how it complimented the emotions captured. The plus is that I got gorgeous images of my family and “the” shot of both of my kids together, in the same frame, loving on each other. Thanks, Kat!

berks county maternity photographer | family of three…

It’s always such a compliment to me when clients return because they want me to create their family portraits. I last saw this family three (almost four) years ago at the newborn session of their first child. Their little guy was dreamy to photograph then and he was dreamy to photograph recently at the family’s photo session.  He is going to be a big brother very soon! It makes my heart happy to see families cherish the time of expectancy and taking the time to capture family one last time before the dynamics change with the arrival of a new child.

I knew he was a cutie from his newborn session, but wow, look at how stunning he is! He is a totally handsome little guy. He also has the most gorgeous eyes with a full set of eye lashes that would make any girl jealous. Playful and loving are other words to describe him. He is very excited to meet his new sibling. I can’t wait to capture their family once the new baby arrives.
